Charter Oak follows a disciplined investment process that aims to identify unique opportunities as a result of significant changes — either positive or negative — at the corporate or industry level.
We believe that pricing inefficiencies or catalysts that possess the proper margin of safety can create attractive entry points for investment and outsized opportunity for excess return. We employ a collaborative, team-oriented culture grounded in rigorous research and analysis to formulate investment ideas and develop robust theses. Charter Oak evaluates, adjusts, and manages risk supported by a balance between qualitative and quantitative metrics.
The firm is employee-owned and based in New York, NY. We look beyond short-term conventional thinking to pursue asymmetric opportunities spanning public markets.

Charter Oak’s approach includes finding compelling investment opportunities with positive climate externalities, across industry verticals. We focus on profitable companies with proven business models and multiple ways to win, exploring themes such as the energy transition, sustainability, and environmental regulation to identify investment candidates.
Charter Oak believes that regulatory changes are driving substantial global spend in climate-transition investments. Corporations are increasingly recognizing the need to adapt, while government-driven national energy security initiatives are likewise encouraging investment. Despite now being further into the energy transition with more economic visibility and demonstrated business models, valuations generally remain attractive, providing opportunities in high quality businesses with tailwinds and multiple ways to profit, focusing on good, profitable companies with positive climate externalities.
Charter Oak also believes that markets in regulated environmental instruments, and notably compliance carbon, play an important role in the climate transition and can be highly asymmetric, presenting attractive risk-reward opportunities for special situations investors.
Charter Oak focuses on public markets, which for investments in the climate space, provide liquidity and flexibility in the face of dynamic regulation. The public markets offer a less-binary option for this opportunity.
